A development of the ORE-1 this machine seemed to start the 1990 season the same way as its older brother and the team experienced several qualifying failures. As a result the management lost heart and folded the operation.

Moneytron Onyx ORE1

 

On the basis of previous efforts by Alan Jenkins - including the McLaren and Penske - many people expected the Onyx to be a decent car. However, Badly let down by the customer Ford engine the car took a long time to get straight. Once the machine was raceworthy it started to pre-qualify regularly and once over that hurdle Stefan Johansson scored the team's first points. The best finish came in at Estoril when Johansson reached the podium.
