About Dave's F1 Models

My name is Dave Carr and I live in a small village in North Essex, England. I have been making models since I was a young child, starting with plastic airfix aeroplanes and ships like most boys, moving on to Tamiya motorbikes and cars in my teens. My interest in Formula One started during James Hunt's championship year and the first race I remember watching throughout was the Japanese GP of 1976, when James managed to finish 3rd on a rain soaked Mount Fuji circuit and won the championship by 1 point from Nicki Lauda. From that moment I was hooked and have watched almost every race since, albeit mostly from the comfort of my armchair. I attended every British GP from 1989 - 2000 and now try to attend at least one European GP each year.

Bringing my fascination with F1 and model making together, I bought my first Tameo 1/43rd scale model in 1990 by mail order from Grand Prix Models (then in Radlett) and built the Ferrari F189 (see pictures on my Ferrari page). Since then I have added over 50 to my collection when time, my wife and the children allow me. I particularly like to build the less common constructors cars such as Minardi, Eurobrun, Coloni and Rial, although like most F1 model builders I have my share of Ferrari's in the display cabinet.

Over the last few years I have been increasingly building kits for other collectors and this now takes most of my spare time. I also add photo's to my site of customer builds with their permission.See my kit building page for further information.

I hope you enjoy looking at my F1 model collection and if you haven't tried building a white metal kit, that it inspires you to give it a go.

Dave Carr.
